WORKING HARD (& loving every bit of it) part 2

Sometimes the details are the best part. It’s important to see a painting as a whole for its composition but when you look really close- that’s where you can learn more about the artist. That’s why artists like de Kooning and Pollock are still two of my favorite painters. In some of their paintings, you can see debris left over from their studio (dirt, bugs, cigarettes etc) 

When I’m painting - I’m naturally  heavy handed. I’d rather leave a bold mark or cover an entire painting with a roll of paint. I think some of my best moments in these pieces is when I break that mold and find a balance between the soft and bold moments.
